Lumpini Park & Beyond

The Bangkok Street Cat Project has its roots in Lumpini Park in central Bangkok, where more than 50 street cats make their home.According to historians, community cats have lived in the park ever since it was donated to the city by King Rama VI in 1925.This is not surprising to anyone who knows the streets of Bangkok, where thousands of cats live out their lives as community cats.We go to Lumpini Park every morning and feed as many of our sweet feline friends that we can find. We coordinate with the morning feeders, most of whom are local Thais, to make sure that we don’t overlap or miss a cat. Most of the street cats in the park are extremely friendly and look healthy. But on closer inspection, many of these cats have common skin conditions, and a few show signs of significant medical conditions. There are pregnant mama cats and young juveniles, some with cataracts or broken limbs, and about 30 percent appear to be fixed. One of our first goals is to have our Vet evaluate every cat we can find, provide in-field treatment if possible, and remove individuals who are contagious or need more extensive medical care. We will establish a network of vets, clinics, hospitals and volunteers to make sure all the cats are fixed, vaxxed, and as healthy as possible for live on the street. We will soon be accepting tax-deductible donations in both Thai Baht and USD. Thanks for your support 🙏
